Howdy folks;

I have an old (75 yrs?), 1000 gal. concrete cistern built onto a rock outcroping on the bank of a year-round creek. During heavy rains in January, the creek inudated the cistern and it needs cleaning.
Anybody done this? Advice?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Roger

i pump mine dry and save about 300 gal in a pickup tank, park the tank uphill from the cistern, and hook up my gas pressure washer to the tank and wash the inside off. then we let the cistern refill and shock chlorinate it w/ the water treatment pellets, let it set, and all is good

Hi Bearcat;
Thanks for the info.
Are you able to do this from outside the cistern or do you have to get inside to reach all the corners etc? Mine has taken on lots of muddy water and I may have ot get inside to do a good job. Any precuations or breathing concerns while inside a cistern?
Roger
