OT Sump Pump

Hello. I bought a house with a sump pump in the basement that won't work. I took it out and flushed it out with the garden hose and worked the float switch up and down. Plug it in and nothing. I was afraid to take it apart so it might not be water tight if I did so. Is there anything to repairing these things or is it nonserviceable? It is a 115 volt pump. THanks

List a model number/manufacturer from nameplate.
Is it submersible or column sump pump?
If a submersible, is the float switch built in or does it "piggyback" to the pump plug? May just need a new float switch.

So what are you doing in the mean time???? You can go to any Tractor Supply , Hardware store to buy a new pump for around $ 60.00.....I wouldn't waste my time trying to repair a sump pump..Now, if it were a grinder pump for solid effluents. They are more money , usually built better , and are readily repairable
