Kolbalt air compresser

Lowe"s has a 2 stage air compresser around $800.00 it"s 17 cfm Made in AMERICA. Can anyone tell me who makes the Kolbalt line. Are they worth buying? Thank you

I don't know for sure about the Kobalt compressor, but if I was a betting man, I'd say Campbell-Hausfeld.

As far as Kobalt tools, most of the hand tools that they are currently selling (sockets and wrenches) are produced by Danaher in the USA. They are almost identical to the Allen line of hand tools.

They are Balma pumps, made in Italy.

The Kobalt line of tools is made by Snap-On. Many of the tools come from the same dies as the standard Snap-Ons. I found out about this from our Snap-On Industrial rep (not a tool truck guy) who works out of Kenosha WI (Snap-On's world headquaters). I'm not certain the truck guy's even know this or want to acknowledge it for that matter.

All of this makes a lot of sense since I had heard from several people that the Kobalt tools are of exceptional quality.

A friend of mine worked as a design engineer for Williams Tool in Columbus, GA, their headquarters. After SO acquired them, they were asked to design the Kobalt wrenches, sockets and ratchets, which they did, and prototyped them. Then the whole thing was contracted out to an Asian firm to produce the products to Williams/SO design specs. After that, my friend took an early retirement package from SO.

i did not know that lowe's had any tools made in america. i thought everything they sold was foreign. i have seen kolbalt hand tools, but never air compressor. try calling nearest lowe's store and ask them. they might actually know or can find out. keep us posted because that sounds like a good deal if it is indeed american made.
