Ferrell gas called me today and asked me (on my phone message machine) why I didnt sign up for the prebuy. I called back and explained to this woman in Bay City Michigan that I bought a corn/ pellet stove and that I will only need about 300 gallons of propane per year. She said that she can sell me propane at $1.59/gallon now, I told her to sign me up for 250 gallons now, at $1.59. Here is my question, since I am not on a contract she said my first invoice from the driver ticket will be $2.50/gallon and to disregard the first invoice and she will send me another invoice for the correct amount of $418. Have any of you guys that are with Ferrell gas or anybody else been screwed by a quoted price over the phone and the market price of Propane? Should I cancel the 250 gallon fill order? Thanks in advance.

I had it with Ferrelgas when they wanted me to pay $50 to lock in a maximum price when at the same time Southern States was offering prepay for $.30 a gallon less. Since I left Ferrelgas havent had to replace a flame sensor or igniter. Used to be, I was averaging 2 service calls a year.

Ferrell gas will soon be history here. They've been gouging me $2.69 a gallon here for months.
The driver stopped here last week after I went to work. My wife stopped him before he filled the tank. He stated that he stopped late so he wouldn't have to deal with me. Guess what? Most would rather deal with me. There's a new Sepco stone lined electric hot water heater with my name on it for as soon as I can pick it up, the 30 amp 240 volt power is already run for it. And the 60 amp 240 volt line is ready for Mama's new stove, As soon as I can find somebody that wants the new POS Kenmore gas stove I bought her last year!

no way-it took over a year to get the gas my dad prepaid for. The driver ran out and wrote it on the ticket. They still filled his tank later at a high price and argued that he owed them for the gas they later delivered that he had already paid for-look for another supplier

'Neck,

With all of the propane outfits around here, why do continue to deal with these jerks?

I switched from propane to natural gas several years ago and never looked back. But before that I was a customer of Northwest Propane out of Holly for couple of years and never had a problem with them. They waived the tank rent as long as I bought at least 500 gallons per season.

I may just call Ferrell gas today and cancel that 250 gallon fill and then let the 200 or so gallons that I got in the tank drain out and then switch to NW propane. (Do you like them?) Do they *ick with you on deliverys and priceing, what was you last prebuy price setting? I just got setup with Ferrell gas in the fall of 2004 and I got a 1000 gallon tank (rental of course). My neighbor is going to get his own 500 gallon tank and then buy from anybody he wishes.

Redneck, it's been eight years since I switched to natural gas, so things could have changed. (Prices sure have.) But I had no complaints with Northwest when I was on propane. It's possible that they don't deliver in your area, though.

If I were you, I'd call around. I know there's also Hamilton Propane in Ortonville; I imagine there must be one or two other suppliers that will deliver in your area.

I had Hamilton Propane for 4 years and I cancelled them because they wouldnt set a prebuy price in 2004, so I went to Ferrell gas. I cancelled the 250 gallon order and I will wait until fall. The companies that I know of are Amerigas NW propane Ferrell Hamilton Oakland fuels Bizarre story with Amerigas, 5 years ago I watched an Amerigas driver fill my neighbors 500 gallon tank and he was smoking while he was filling the tank, and I watched him deliberately ignite the gas coming out of the hose with a cigarette to show me that it will not blow back into the hose, Super Stupid....I told my neighbors about it and I dont know what happened after that. I also saw a woman smoking while she was pumping gas at the Shell station at the M-15/I-75 intersection, it is amazing how stupid some people are.

I didn"t sign up for Ferrellgas this year. I haven"t had any trouble with the previous company till Ferrell took over.
They quoted my price for 1.779. I got a qoute from another company for 1.499.
Ferrellgas requoted me 1.599 to stay with them.
I"m just tierd of playing games with them. There always sticking ya with something new everytime you turn around. My mother had enought of them. She always pays her bill on the same day they deliver it. Then a few weeks later she gets billed for the same gas she just payed for.
My opinion they have very poor management. I"d tell them to rebill you at the price they reqouted you 1.59. That way its on paper. I don"t trust them talk cheap. Besides 2.50 a gallon a bit high.
Good luck with your corn stove! Mike

Just like anything else in business, if it's not in writing there's no guarantee. If this is a legit deal from the company, there should be no problem sending you something on paper. If not, how lucky do you feel?

I think it is bs and would eitehr tell them to get it straight or cancel. Had a guy from union oil quote me a price, on a wednesday, tthey deliverd me the fuel the next monday and I got the invoice stuck on the fuel barrel call then because the quote was way off from the price on the invoice. I told them barry had quoted me this and they said well barry ahd no authority to give you that big of a discount and barry is no longer with the company. The guy at union oil said he shouldnt have even told you that because with computers no adays they can either put the prie in the computer or put a note on your contract for the deliverry driver to deliver x gallons at x price. or they can modify it right there.

If the gas is in the tank, you have them over the barrel. I say go for it. They can always come back and get it.

Most companies do not like for customers to play games with them. For that reason, I do not let companies play games with me.
