Alright its not tools but I dont know where else to ask.I emailed ebay to no response.How come some people press bid history and get the bidders zip codes listed and I dont.I only get ebay names and time of bid.I suspect Ive been shilled and would like to know if seller and bidders live close to each other.Help appreciated.Thank you.

I am sure there is a lot of Shill Bidding going on, on Ebay. But, it would be hard to prove, I guess. I have bought some items off Ebay, from a friend, with a local zip. I guess it might look suspicious to some, but I can buy stuff from him, go pay & pick it up, avoiding shipping fees. Easy for both of us, he does not have the hassles of packing & shipping. I think there are some legitimate local sales, on large ithem. But I am equally sure there are lots of shills...

I have found auctions bring out the larceny in people. Sellers trying to steal your money. Buyers trying to steal the goods. I don't know why ebay would be any different.

I think it would be hard to prove that the friend or neighbor or the seller's family was running the price up. I just always decide what my highest price including shipping that I will pay for an item and if someone has a plant running the price up let them have it and pay the fees and lose a real sell. Some people just keep bidding because they do not want to get beat but they are beating their own selves.

Last week I followed the no-reserve sale of a truck on eBay. The winning bidder also sold on that site and is from the same town as the truck seller. Both had given each other positive feedback twice.

Within hours after the end of the auction, the truck was relisted. The seller added the note: "Relisted because high bidder did not have funds to pay for it."

And now that same bidder is involved in the current auction! I don't think it would be hard to prove collusion.

Do ya think the seller meant to say "relisted because the bids didn't go high enough, people won't for some odd reason bid on reserve auctions, and my buddy the shill doesn't want it!"

I have found zip-codes by looking at recent auctions listed under their feedback... if they were a seller you can often see the zip code under these old auctions.

They could still be in cahoots even if they live far away from each other. They could coordinate a bid-run-up through e-mail.

Ebay says that it's illegal and will prosecute. They could run some checks to find patterns, but I doubt they do... it's good profits for them either way.

Look just under the advanced search, there is a link for live help, thats the fastest way to get in touch with an actual person, usually dont take more than a few minutes and you chat with someone, found it helps me in the few cases I needed help. I personally find Ebay is getting less and less of a good deal, sellers gouging on shipping rates and shill bidders are killing it.

Yes it happens, all to often.

Use advanced search to locate all items the seller has listed. Go to each item and look at the bid history to see who the bidders are. Does any one name jump out at you as being a bidder on all or virtually all of the sellers auctions? There is your shill. Could be the seller with a different account, or could be a different person. Highly unlikely however, that one person would bid on almost everything a seller has listed, and be legit.

Only time I have ever gotten a bidders zip code, is if that person was the high bidder on an item I sold. Ebay sends an Email telling you the information the bidder has entered, usually the name and address, zip code and some times phone number. Do people have friends and neighbors and so forth bid on their stuff to run up the price? You betcha. Is it OK to do that? No way. Can you prove it? Not likely. If you sent a message to Ebay, don"t expect an answer in a hurry. Usually takes upward of 2 days for a reply. Yea I know, pretty dumb but that"s the way they do it.
Good luck, if they did take advantage of you I hope they get caught. Sadly the worst thing that usually happens is they suspend the account. Guess what, they just open another.
Back in the old days I loved Ebay. Now days, it"s just OK. I spend more time being cautious than I do buying and selling, sad but true.

Copy the user ID Go to the advanced search. Find the one its on the side that says Find Sellers paste user name in the blank, check find all simular names, click search then it will post all with the locations. This can be done wether it is a seller or buyer.

The reason you didn't get a response from ebay is because you are dealing with a machine.

It almost takes an act of congress to find any "real people" at ebay.

I've been using E-Bay for several years. I've never seen the bidders zip code in the bid history. Are you sure that's not just for sellers?
