I called again today to ask about going to see it but I had a couple more questions before I spent $12 in gas to go see it. I asked if it had an odometer type numbers for gallons and price on the front. He said it had NO numbers and NO glass anywhere on it. So, I figured it must be like JeffCat says some sort of pump to pump gas from a barrel. I then asked if it was a gas pump like you"d find at a service station and he said yes sir. I said how do you know how much gas your getting. He said he thought each crank was a gallon and he guessed you"d have to count cranks.

He then said he didn"t mean to mislead me but it was a Gas Boy not a Gas Man pump. I thought Gas Boy pumps were by Gilbarco and he"d said it wasn"t a Gilbarco and I thought Gas Boy pumps were regular gas pumps like I"m familiar with.

Does this give anyone any more ideas what it might be?

I"m not planning to drive up there now as I wanted a regualr gas pump with numbers etc for display beside my carport, er tractorport as their is no room left for the car.

I think you have a lack of communication - this had a dial, right? I think that this is a service unit pump from the 70s. I don't think that Gasboy made any vintage ( <1950 ) pumps for service stations.

Here's a picture:

And here's a link to a forum with the experts:

By the way, that pump can be had new with the register for less than $200.

Let me know what you find out.

I've got a question going on oldgas now. They suggested it might be like this:

I don't plan on going to see it as I want a pump with odometer style numbers for gallons and price in a face. I don't want the globe on top but a pump that looks kinda like the style that does.
