STIHL CHAINSAW PROBLEM

I was out cutting this morning and after a two hour lunchbreak the saw wouldn't start. I think I must have flooded it. What is the best way to restart when flooded?

Jim - I had the same hard starting problem with my Stihl 034 for years, I hated to try and start it cold or warm, pulled my guts out on that saw every time.
UNTIL -
When it's cold, I noticed if it starts just a little or coughs or spluters click the trigger, or up 1 notch manually to release the choke then pull again - do not pull again with the coke on not even once - do not put the choke back on, waite a minute and then pull.

When it's warm do not use the choke at all, lock trigger on 1st position (hot) or second position (cool) down not 3rd position.

Just in case: The choke is the bottom position on the thumb set, one click up and it should start easier.

I've started keeping a butane cigarette lighter in my toolbox for that very reason. Pull the plug and hold it over the flame and it cooks the gas off and preheats the plug to help if there is residual gas in the cylinder bore.

My sthils have been hard to start, but get much better when I take the air filter off, blow it out, put it back, and then put a few drops of gas on it, and then start it. That filter media needs to be pretty dense to protect the saw, but gets dirty easy, starving it of air.

holding the throttle wide open with choke off is best for flooded saw engine..drying the plug like stated couldnt hurt at all.

Take the spark plug out clean it off real good then put the spark plug back in and try it again
