My Drill press!!

I have a large Delta Drill press about a hundred yrs old... well not quite that old! However, the large step cone pulley finally wore out and broke up..finally got a number and called for a new one.. They want $345.00 yeeks..... Does anyone know where I might find an after market one? It is 8inches on the bottom and reduces to 4 inch. its a 4 step.. !/2 inch belt and a 11/16 bore with a key... Any Ideas??? Sure would be appreciated..

I have a complete delta press head and short stand. Works great. I woulld be happy to sell you the whole thing for like $50 (what I paid for it) Im down in GA.

Jpuleo!! I certainly will take your offer!! CAn You ship it to me and what will be the cost?? It looks very much like the old Drill press I have.. The part number is on the underside of the pulleys.. DP-644 and DP-645... Would be very much indebted to you as I have not been able to find them... There is a place in Minneapolis/St Paul that is called 4 corners. They buy all kinds of old machine shop tools and re-build them or used to. Try a google or white pages on line.

Just take the size of each of the 4 steps along to a place like northern and stack 4 seperate pullies together

Is the old pulley made out of aluminum? Could you find a way to repair it.I repaired a bandsaw wheel that broke by the hub, by asking for advise on this site. It was like a cast aluminum and I tig welded it the best I could and then filled both sides JB weld. It is still sawing away.

Would be a lot of work, but you could make one out of narrow slices of correct size pipe, with cookies to the next step.

This is a long shot but may prove worth it.

There is a company in Pulaski,Tn that has numerous old machines that are salvage from different places. They most likely have your pulley.

Problem is that I don't know the name of the place. You might invest in a call to the police dept. They could tell you the name of the place. It's on Hamilton between First and Sam Davis.

I'd think if he could find a similar size 4 step pulley it wouldn't be a big deal to bore it to the 11/16 (easier to hold on a mill than on a lathe) and broach a key way- that would be what probably have to be farmed out.
