Air Impact for 2 ton truck

I have a couple Chevy two ton trucks that seem to be on a flat tire party. My 1/2 air impact won't budge the lug nuts, have to get them off with 3/4 drive breakover and cheater bar. Do I just need a better impact or should I go bigger like 3/4 or 1" drive? Would the torque extensions help?

Thanks
E18

Are you SURE you are turning the nuts in the correct direction? They may be left-hand thread and are not marked as such. Ask me how I know this.

In my opinion I would go with a good 1/2" gun and then see if you still need a 3/4" gun. We have an IR 2131a 1/2" impact with 600 ft/lbs of torque and since we got it we use our 3/4" gun about 10% as much as we used to because the smaller gun has so much power yet is still alot easier to use. For big jobs we have an IR 2141 3/4" that's 1,200 ft/lbs of torque but it's generally our last resort.

If you have 1 & 1/2" outer hex nuts and square head inner nuts on the rears , You have "Budd " Wheels. If the front and rear nuts are the same with no inner nut in the rear, You have disc wheels.

IR 2141 is a great impact. Light weight, powerful and only about $500. Much stronger than a cheater bar.

what type of wheels is on the truck??? if they are bud you need a 1" drive impact. dayton[or star as some call them] a 3/4"drive will work most of the time, also make sure your air compressor is big enough to run a large impact.

Both trucks have steel one piece wheels. Not the spoke type. Whats the proper name?
