jd gator problems

I have a 6x4 JD gator that was running fine.
attery died and replace it and hooked it all back up and nothing.
No rank no click no nothing. The only thing that works is dump box. No lights ,heat , radio zilch.
All connections are good (cleaned them all ) battery is good, no obvious blown uses.
Are there any electricbxes or hidden fuses on these things? looked in manual no mention of anything.
Any clues ?

I would start by checking for poor ground on engine/componet side. Usually on electic power dump systems the main bat. wiring will go directly to the dump unit, due to the amp loads during use. It could be a power side prob. of the same sort as well. Look for signs of corrosion around mounting bolts or a ground strap (from engine to frame) that may have come loose or broke. I have worked on the older 5-wheelers made by jd, and the bat. ground went to the frame not the engine, this one had a broken motor mount and starter was unresponsive due to lost ground. Happy hunting, sounds like a challenge.

I had an old friend call me one day to come over to look at his Gator, so i went to see him and it. He said he had installed a new battery, because it wouldn't start with the old one! well, not being familiar with the operation, or even with the machine,i tried to start it. Nothing. Then i check the power to ignition switch. O.k., but no action! then i checked the battery connections. all o.k. there. So, i went and sat down on a chair, and surveyed the machine. Whilst peering thru the gloom, i happened to look at the gear shift! VOILA!! The owner had parked it in forward gear, and never checked it, before he bought the new battery, and me, being unfamiliar with it, hadn't checked it either! I moved it into Park, Or whatever JD calls it,and it started right up! Learned something that day! Rustyj
