I just spent 2 hours today removing stuff from where we park 2 cars and hosing the ground in dirt off of the concrete. most of the dirt is gone (the caked on surface dirt) but there are marks where the car tires drive on and I cant hose that off. Is there a solution that any of you guys have used that removes ground in mud from concrete. I did not use any type of soap I dont want to scrub it off (it doesnt concern me that much) but I would like to be able to paint it with oil based paint in the future and will need to get all the dirt off. I dont have a power washer.

you didn't mention how large an area you're dealing with... but for small spills, oil changes, grease droppings, etc. I've had good luck with aerosol brake cleaner or carb cleaner...

have a rag ready (fast evaporation) and spray the area then wipe (scrub if you want). It tends to lift the stain quite quickly. Auto parts stores, Walmart, etc sell it but you can find the stuff cheaper at dollar stores and Big Lots.. I'll buy it up at a buck or two a can and use it for all types general automotive parts cleaning.... caution.. the carb cleaner will lift paint also...

but, on a bare concrete floor...it should do the trick

A pressure washer may work. We removed some pretty stubborn stuff on a garage floor with one.

Muriatic Acid. You can buy it at Home Depot or Lowes. Follow the directions on the label. It would be easy to asphyxiate yourself in an enclosed area.

A word of caution on the muriatic acid. It will work, and work well, but you may want to dilute it by half to start, and gradually increase the strength until it is strong enough to remove the crud. Muriatic acid at full strength WILL etch your floor.
