JD model 81 chain saw

My dad picked up a John Deere model 81 chain saw, serial #670. It appears to be in real good shape except for no spark. Who built these, when were they made, and are parts still available, especially ignition. I'd like to get this running for him.

This Link states that the JD model 81 was manufactured by Remington using original Mighty Mite chassis.

I don't remember any of the model numbers, but the first Deere chain saws were made by Remmington, and the laters ones by Kioritz Corporation (they sell some of their stuff under their Echo brand name). Since one is US made, and other Japanese, there's probably no mistaking them.

I use to have a model 650 ECHO. It was identical to one of the John Deere models. Don"t remember the John Deere model.
