help indentifying old Ford wrench

Usually I post on the Ford 9N-2N-8N forum but since this post is tool related I thought I'd post it here too.

Yesterday I was searching through a bunch of old wrenches inherited from my father and ran across this wrench. Stamped clearly onto the wrench in raised letters and symbols is the Ford logo followed by "USA 01A-17017B" followed by an "M" inside a circle and "42".
A quick search on the internet indicates that this is pre-1950 Ford tractor wrench! How my father acquired it I have no idea, since he never owned a tractor. He was, however, an auto mechanic and had a large variety of tools. I inherited his tools but not his mechanical abilities! Can anyone confirm that this is indeed a Ford tractor wrench? Did it come in the toolbox supplied with the early Ford tractors? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

old ford cars and trucks camr with a set of tools
a crank wheel wrench, a 7/16 x 3/8, 1/2 x 9/16,
5/8x11/16, the plug wrench a jack the crank for a V8 had a extenchion to go through the grill
I have cranked a couple V8 could be done. i belive the stoped the tools in cars after WWII.

I am not sure about the number after the M. The tool experts don't know for sure either. That is a great wrench for the spark plugs on an N. I had a 51 also, and that was the best wrench for plugs.

This is a spark plug/cylinder head wrench. This wrench was included with the Ford N series tractors. The N series tractors started in 1939 but this particular wrench wasn't included until 1940 and remained in the kit until the end of the N series in 1952. This wrench was also used on the Ford cars as well in that era. The only wrench that was exclusive to the tractor was the plow wrench.

Thanks for your answer and the information you provided. Since my father was a car mechanic for many years, it's likely he acquired the wrench sometime during the years he worked. I know he never owned a tractor. I've got a '51 8N, so I will keep the wrench tu use on its spark plugs.

Thanks for the reply. I checked out that link you included and looked at the picture of the head wrench that looks like mine. That one has a "50" after the M in the circle where as mine has a "42" there. I know that the M is the manufacturer's mark. Now I'm wondering if the numbers are the year of manufacture, making the link's pictured wrench a 1950, and mine a 1942. Do you think that's possible?

Could be the year. The one I have, has the number 35 on it after the M in the O ?
