Looking at welder generators right now. Currently I am looking at a Miller Bobcat and a Hobart Champion 10000. What are your opinions on these rigs. The salesman told me the Hobart is more for the farmers and Miller was for construction types. I am mainly going to use it for a backup power source and some welding too. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, Chris

My friend told me Miller bought out Hobart or the other way around. They are probably basically the same machines.

Dan, the guy that services my welders told me to walk away from The newer Lincoln portables. They've had a lot of internal balance problems (not balanced at all) with the rotors in the generators. This eventually causes them to tear themselves apart, of course well after the warranty has expired $$$
Stick with Miller

i have the miller Bluestar 185, 185 dc amps and 6000 watt gen capacity, works well for everything so far, quite portable also, either engine is good, but depending on the year you buy it might be one or the other,[depending on who has the engine supply contract] look on the miller welder web site under generators for specs.

Link Look at the Lincoln "Ranger". Great price. Hobart is not as good a deal as Lincoln or Miller in the same size/type.

Both are good machines, but the Miller holds it value better then the hobart. I have never unstood why but thats just how it is.
