I'm going to replace my old hand levels. At the present , I have "Johnson" levels. I'm thinking of switching to "Stabila" levels. From what I have read , they are cream of crop levels. Any experience/comments out there , as far as Stabila levels go?

I have a really good Starret level that i wouldn't trade and several other Stanleys and Craftsman levels. I gues the real issue is , How accurate is it ? When mine get out of whack, I adjust them back to true again. The look like old cast offs, but they are still as good or better than any new level because I keep them accurate. So, if your old levels are out of whack, why not just adjust them back ? If they are dead on, why replace them ? Just a thought.

Thanks for the input Walt. I know what you mean about not wanting to use a good quality tool. I always try to buy top quality tools , due to the fact that I make my living with them. The first scratches , along with other signs of wear , are always dreaded.

Hi Sal , I never herd of a cricket level. I would like to know/see more about them before making my final choice. Where abouts do you live? Or should I ask , where is the company that makes "cricket Levels? Do you have any pictures of a Cricket level? If not , could you describe what they are made of? Approx: cost , etc..

Scott, Do you need to ask cost? The levels that he was referring to are "Crick" and they are the best. Built in MI if I recall right. I am a bricklayer by trade and abuse levels, nothing will put up with the abuse a Crick will. 4' will be around $100, 2' will be around $60. I have 3 4' and 2 2' and would not own anything else. Guaranteed for 3 years and you can send them back for a "tune up" after that time for a reasonable fee, haven't done one in awhile so I forget the exact cost. Construction is of 3 piece laminated design, can be ordered as 5 piece also. Many different woods you can choose from, mine are all Walnut/Maple design. E-mail me in a couple of days, I will see if I can get you some info, either online or I'll mail it to you snail style.

Scott, Go to www.cricktool.com and check these babys out. You can't go wrong with one. Ignore the price if you can, you want the best, you pay for the best.
