I have a Kirby 510 vacuum and was wondering just how the *&^%$$& heck to get the fan blade off the motor?! I noticed inside the motor a drilled through hole for a holding rod plus another on the outside belt shaft but for the life of me I cant get the blasted thing to break loose. Is this a right or left hand thread? Vacuum needs bearings and all the 60 year old crud cleaned out.

Help?

Years ago when I had a kirby I took it into deajer. He changed bearings for free That is no charge what so ever.

by what you are saying, I guess the fan is treaded on the motor shaft. right or left tread depends on direction of rotation. I would say the rotation should tend to tighten the fan to prevent it from spinning of as you start the motor. Also are you sure there is not a setscrew or a rollpin to hold the fan in place.
