Well I just got another propane fill up $2.76 a gallon. So that makes for about $220.00 a month to cook and keep water hot. I asked the driver if I am in the highest price bracket. He stated that I need to call the office and see if I can work out a deal with them. So I asked him if I have been a customer for almost 15 years why I should have to call and work out a deal. I have the contracts laying on the kitchen table right now to install a Sepco stone lined electric hot water heater in place of the propane heater and I'm so thouroughly disgusted with the new Kenmore gas stove that I'm ready to take it out and put in electric. So Ferrellgas being an employee owned company, I challenged the driver to go back to his manager and ask him/her what they plan to do to keep my business. I won't call them except to tell them to come get their tank.

That's way high for propane.Around here(OK) were selling it for about $1.70 a gallon and if you find it cheaper we will match their price. I am a service tech for a nationwide company that I won't mention since I've already heard bad news from some of you about.

That sounds about like my experience with them, always some way to gouge me. They wanted to charge me $50 to guarentee my price at $1.70 a gallon, I tried to get them to let me prepay like Southern States would but no dice (SS was offering prepay then for $1.29). Been using SS gas now for 2 years, NO regrets. I dont see how Ferrelgas is staying in business.

Are you sure you dont have a leak somewhere? I got smart it took 10 years of dealing with Amerigas now called national. But I always paid my bill as soon as I got filled up. I called them an asked if they could do any better on the price. I was told no, So I bought my own tank and dont regret it I saved $ 43 dollars the first fill up buy another company. Buy your own tank.

Boy do I know what you mean about Amerigas/National. I went round and round with them 4 years ago. Luckily I got my way but I almost had to go to the local office and pi$$ pound them all. Needless to say I told them to get their crap out of my yard also.

What did your tank cost? How many gallons? Did they deliver & set it up? What kinds of places sell the tanks?

That sure doesnt sound right. I heat water and cook with propane, and the occasional power outage I use my gas lights. I get my propane from a local general store in 100# exchage bottles, the last one cost $62 including tax. It last about six weeks. Something ain't right, maybe a gas leak somewhere? I could see it if you were heating with propane, but just a range and water hmmmm....

Steve,
Been there. Went and bought my own tank ( thousand gallon) and now I buy from whom ever is the cheapest. I generally call around and find their prices and then call and have it delivered. Most winters I get by on one tank of propane. This past fall it was $1.25 to fill and that should last me until next fall.

Here in central Iowa Ferrelgas has been gouging customers as well. Alot of disgruntled customers. I contract my gas from a local COOP Grain elevator. Paid $1.19 for 1400 gallons on contract in Aug. 2005 which will keep me until next fall and only had to put $80.00 down to guarantee my price. Once a month my propane man fills my tank. Price today is $1.40 a gallon.

Wow... My electric bills for a 2700 under roof house rarely ever get to 200$.. and run less than a hundred during the temperate months in florida... I guess the gas company must like you..

Wow, that seems like a lot of money each month just for a water heater and an oven/range.

I don't know how to convert a therm to a gallon to make a fair comparison, but I don't spend that much on Natural gas to use my oven/range, hot water heater and to heat the house to 68-70 degrees each month. I also have a natural gas heater in the basement for when I'm working down there I've used a few times for most of a weekend.

I'll have to find the last bill, but I think I paid $2.30 per therm last month.

Have you considered one of the insulating blankets for the hot water heater? It can make a considerable difference.

WOW!!! you sure can heat alot of water and cook alot of meals for $220.00 a month in electric. I have gas heat and kitchen range with an electric hot water heater and my electric bill's are around $60.00 per month. When I got propane back in october I paid $1.39 a gallon.
