CASE VAC tractor

I have a Case VAC early 50s with hydraulic three pt lift system. Removed the cover where fluid is introduced to help drain system. Inside the area behing the cover is a section of hose not apparently connected to anything just sitting in the area. Does this hose have any function? Was thinking of removing it before bolting the cover back on. Any comments.
