Karcher pressure washer

Your opinion please on a Karcher G2500 HT pressure washer. Techumseh 6.0 gas engine OHV 195, 2.4 gpm, 35' hose, new (or maybe reconditioned, not sure)for sale at local Big Lots, $300+tax. Will not be used to make a living.
What can't it do?

I got a K 2400 2 years ago, it has a Honda engine. Seems to do fine for me, but it's all I now, never used any other before.

I have a 2500 psi Karcher with a HORIZONTAL shaft engine. Later ones have a vertical shaft and I think, a much cheaper quality pump.

I needed to order a part for the pump, fairly simple and Karcher gave me the number of the parts distributor to call. Guy was real nice, talked for quite a while. Told me I had one of the last of the good pumps, that the later design (thats the vertical shaft design) was almost not repairable.

So all I can say is the 6.5 hp OHV briggs and the pump I have works real well. I've gotten good use from it and no serious problems. I bought this in year 2000 when I needed to pressure wash mud stains from the slab of my workshop after the building was erected. I've used it since then for cleaning the underside of mower decks and bush hogs, tractors, and practically anything else that needs cleaning.

I work on the cheap pressure washers and the biggest problem with any of them, be it a Karcher, or Briggs & Stratton portable power is if you let them sit with water in them, the castings are so cheaply made, they will corrode up and quit working or start leaking. Then it is cheaper to buy a new one than it is to fix. most of your higher quality pressure washer use a lot of brass instead of aluminum. They also coat the aluminum they do use so it does not corrode as bad as the cheaper ones. They are not a bad homeowner washer, you just need to take care of it and do the maintenance it says to do in the books.

The treatment cycle depends on your water supply. If on a well and the pressure washer is not used for months then it should be treated every time it is used. City water, low alkaline, then you may be able to get buy with once a season or just before a long storage period. Also if you are using a chemical cleaner in the wash then the aluminum outlet of the pump body is susceptible to corrosion and should be treated every use.

The treatment is easy, just screw on the Pump Saver pressurized container adapter and have someone press the valve on the Pump Saver container while you turn the pump over using the pull start cord.

I have a 3600. The turbo nossel will blow a hole in a 1x4 in about 15 seconds...awesome! Have been happy with the Karcher, but be careful.

I have a 2200lb/sq in and a 2.2 gal/min and it does everything I want it to do. Gets the mud off the tractor real well. Will etch concrete. Actually, you have to keep it moving or it'll destroy stuff. So...that one you're looking at is better than mine.
