I was doing some burning with my welder yesterday and after some time at full power it stopped working. I tried some other amp setting and the same result around the dial. I realize these units are not 100% duty cycle. My question is what happens when the duty cycle is exceeded? Is there a thermal cutout/breaker that needs to be reset or a fuse that needs to be replaced? Is there a thermal cutout that resets itself when it cools? I have been inside it several times and don't remember anything like this. The cooling fan was still operating. I have had it about 10 years and it was at least that old when I got it. Thanks in advance for the help

I found the problem. Evidently when one of the rods melted it crudded up the contact points on the rod holder. Cleaned up the holder and it works now.

it should have a auto reset-- I have 3 and they reset in a few mins- but then you want to go easy because they won't last as long the next time- if you know anyone who wants one I don't need three anymore and as you know the older ones were much better than the newer welders--

If you"re giving them away I want one.
My little welder is too small to do any real work with.
Got one of them harbor freight Arc110 stick welders off ebay for $5.
Works great but is too small.

They will cycle off and on when run too hard.

But once it's started that,

the time it will run before cutting out again just keeps getting shorter.


It's showing signs of being "used up".
