I see Carhartt now has boots. We all know how good their coats and coveralls are, anyone tried the boots yet? I think the quality of their clothing has come down a little in quality lately. The boots are made in China, but are still over $100 for most of them at Farm and Fleet, Wolverines there are $70. Anyone tried them yet? Any good? Thanks.

I love chippewa boots they are made in the us and have lasted a long time. I also have red wings for the summer time. Also not all carhartt has been shipped over seas. There are two different lines of carhartt now USA and the other you just have to check the tag.

The best boots i've ever owned were Danners, and Red Wings. I was looking for new American made boots the other day, and all of the Danners i looked at said made in China on them. I then found a good RedWing dealer, and bought a pair of boots that said Made in the USA. Since then, i have seen a pair of Danners that were advertised as being made in the USA.

I'm guessing like many US companys, Danner has some of there boots made in china and some not. Either way, my RW's are made in the USA, and apear to be made as well as they always have been made. Also they are very comfortable and cost me $170.00!

I got real lucky on this one. I never owned an "expensive" pair of boots until about 6 years ago. My wife decided to buy me a pair of Timberland boots. They were about $115 and the most uncomfortable boots that I have ever owned. I still have them, but they were replaced last spring with Red Wings.

My company started a new benefit last year to provide all employees who have been with the company more than 2 years a voucher worth $150 at the local RW dealer. I receive another voucher every other year. They also arranged a 15% discount for employees. After the voucher and discount, my new boots cost me about $17!

I have to say that the Red Wings are the best boots that I have ever owned, period! After a year of daily use, they are just as comfortable as they were on day one. The soles barely show any wear and they have remained waterproof. Oh, did I mention that I didn't have to go through two weeks of pain in order to break them in? From the minute I put them on, they were simply the best and most comfortable. Even without the voucher or discount, I'm sold and will never buy another brand of boot as long as they are available.

The biggest question is what in the world am I going to do with a new pair of boots every other year when these have held up so great?

Well guys, another made in USA company is Danner. I bought my first pair in 1993 and unfortunately the winter and manure took there toll on them and I had to dispose of them in 1999. I wore the darn things everyday. They are quite pricey at over $200/pair, but they will last and keep your feet dry. You can find them on the internet at:
www.danner.com

Cabela"s carries them online.

RedwingChiCom boots:Strange! I just had this Re: C in reply to oldrustycars, 03-05-2006 17:20:15
Strange! I just had this email conversation last week with RedWing. I need a new pair after 16 years! Here is their reply to me

{"Hello,
" I am sorry 1107 is not a valid stock number. All Red Wing work shoes branded with the classic winged Red Wing Shoe logo carry the Made in USA label. We have four US plants: two in Minnesota, one in Kentucky and one in Missouri that manufacture our Red Wing branded work shoe products. We're very proud of our American work force and the craftsmanship they bring to the wearers of our work boots. We've been making work footwear since 1905 in the USA. Currently 98% of all footwear worn in the United States is manufactured off-shore. Red Wing Shoe Company is doing everything possible to continue manufacturing our work boot products with a U.S. work force. We do have 5 other branded footwear product groups that are not manufactured in America. They are as follows; Irish Setter hunting boots, Vasque outdoor trail shoes, WORX work footwear, Red Wings casual shoes ( style numbers that start with 4) and our Motorcycle Boot styles. All of these products are designed by Red Wing Shoe Company in our U.S. based design center then manufactured in China. Sincerely,
Red Wing Brands of America
1-800-733-9464}"

So looking at their NEW American Made line.

The boots i wear need to either be rebuilt or replaced only after about 16 years. When I bought these boots, me and my Dad each bought a pair same time same place. But Dad had a stroke shortly after, then died hardly wearing them. I have his boots they are like new no wear little used size 11 D style 1107 Redwing USA 10 inch tops. Unfortunely they are too big for me Iam 9C. If someone could make good use of these, I would sell them $75 plus shipping. can take a picture for you

I have not seen the Carhartt boots but I can bet that if Red Wing is the sub, they are made in China or parts are made in China and assembled in the U.S.A. Red Wings are not only made in Red Wing,MN.They also have plants in several other southern states.I have been buying R.W."s all my life and have never had a bad pair, most of the time I have them resoled two to three times before the leather gives out.If your"e having problems with them call them-they"re pretty good about replacing bad product. The other part of the story is that I grew up in R.W.and could ask people that worked there which boot I should stay away from. From what I here is most boots made of fabric are produced in china-leather in the states.

A great place to buy boots is:

Link

Very reasonable prices with free shipping.

I prefer Wolverines, steel toes with Durashock soles. Comfortable and water proof.

I bought a pair there last year, felt like one shoe had a slight defect in the sole, they sent me another pair pronto with a UPS label to send the first pair back, no charge.

U.S.A. made Wolverines or Red Wings are the Boots of choice on the Construction Jobs I worked on . If you are going with Chinese then save your money and go to K-Mart for a pair of Texas Steers.Carhart Clothing used to be worn with Union Made in the U.S.A. Pride but not any more. Most of thier production went to Honduras or Mexico and elsewhere and now they are selling Chinese made boots banking on thier past Made in American reputation. Sorry if this offends some but this is my Opinion and it is not open to discussion. Some things the average person is forced to buy made Foreign but in the case of quality Work boots thier is no option but to buy American and proud of it .

That stinks. I quit buying Levi's because their quality went down and their production lines all left the US.

The Carhartts may be made in china, but you need to check and see who they are using as their sub on these boots.
Red Wing is who is handling the boot line for them.
I used to wear nothing but red wing at work and home but their quality is not where it was 10 years ago. I wear matterhorns at work and Justins at home. The matterhorns are 200 a pair but they last 3 years, and with what Im in I was going thru redwings every year

TV,

I use Mason shoes also. Been using them for 45 years. Used to be a distributor when they had their dealers. My wife even buys her shoes from them too.
