You really don't want the wire from the psi switch on the load side of the contacts. Just the 115 leg (assuming your using 230 3 ph) to the psi switch then from that to the holding coil of the starter and the other side of the coil to ground. The coil only wants to be held by the pressure switch so the starter drops out when the pressure switch snaps off. Make sure you supply power from one of the 2 hot legs and not the generated or wild leg.

You have the coil/pressure switch circuit connected to the LOAD side of the starter.

Since that side is "hot" only when the contactor is closed, it will not initially close, when powered up.

Be sure it is a quality contactor, rated for the motor load, so it does not "stick".

Oops, needs to go on the line side, Thanks. Also forgot to draw the starter coil in on the diagram. Is it better to go with say a 7 or 10 hp mag starter than a 5 just for longevity reasons?

Thank You

It appeared to me you had the coil drawn in the box along with the pressure switch contacts.

As to the starter, my late Uncle was a Master Electrician, and air compressor contactors was one of the things he was a "fanactic" about, insisting on quality units. I doubt they need to be greatly oversized, but I'm sure quality counts!
