Parts washer air agitation

Got a Kleen-flo J80 parts washer, about 2' x 4' x 3' high. Understand I can use shop compressed air to 'agitate' the solvent - just lays the parts in it and open the valve. I guess this is accomplished via some type of manifold - maybe as simple as a piece of pipe with a row of holes drilled in it. Anyone know approximate design criteria so I can fabricate something? Thanks

You have it. In my old parts washer they had a u shaped pipe that layed on the bottom of the tank.
The holes were drill in about the 11:00 postion on the inside of the pipe all the way around.
This was hooked to a valve to turn on the air.
Make sure to use a pressure regulator, use just enough pressure to move the solvent good.
Also make sure to close the lid while using the air circulation. If you are using a flammable solvent make sure you have a well ventilated area to operate washer in, and DON'T weld or smoke in the general area.

Scott, thanks. Do you happen to recall approximate hole size or spacing? I know I could experiment but I rather do it once.

I think they were 1/16" about every 2 inches.

We have that same thing on our parts washer. As for the holes, they don't need to be big. Not sure on exact size, but one of the smallest drills from a set of bits would do the trick. On ours, we don't have an actual regulator, just a small "T" valve in the line. Our washer is all air powered- even the regular pump for the cleaning nozzle is air powered. We just open the t-valve to get the flow we want.

For what it's worth, I've put numerous parts in the bottom of the tank and turned the agitating air on and left 'em for quite awhile....can't really see that it does much good- still wind up scrubbing the parts with a brush to get them clean.
