OT. 6.0 Chevy oil filter

I've always used a PF59 oil filter on my 2002 Chevy HD. When I went to get a filter yesterday, they didn't have any. They said it changed over to a PF46. The PF46 is shorter than the PF59. I just wonder if it'll work? I'd sure hate to have something go wrong with the engine because of a oil filter.

Well I just inquired at GM and they are now indeed changing the PF59 over to the shorter PF46. So according to the "General" you will be just fine.

I still have 6 of the longer PF59 left on the shelf behind me.

The PF46 is the "short" version of the PF59. The 2003 and later Chevy trucks went to the PF46 because its a little easier to get in and out. It shouldn't give you any problems. I work in parts at a GM dealer and we still carry both filters .
