Chris I'd like to take a stab at this. How does the truck ride? Does it go down the road straight?
Does it make any strange noises?
My guess is that a mounting hole didn't get punched cleanly (kind of like a pregnant or hanging chad on a florida ballot card)
It was reworked and the tag was not removed.
my two cents.

Hi Jim, You could be right, if fact it probably is something like you said. But on the other hand, if I were Chris I would want to know what this is about. During the time I was a mechanic I removed lots of defective parts from brand new cars and trucks. One time I traced a charging problem to a voltage regulator that had the word "bad" written right on it(where it couldn't be seen when installed), and a circle around the area where an insulator was missing. The fact the vehicle goes down the road with no apparent symptoms doesn't mean there isn't something amiss. For several years I also worked for a US car company as an engineering test technician. I worked plenty of overtime testing design and manufacturing screw-ups to see whether or not they should be recalled. I don't mean to sound like I'm jumping on you Jim, but I think Chris should find out if there really is a potential problem.

Hi Ed I hear where your comming from, I would want to know what the problem was myself especially if I just threw down 30+ thousand dollars on a new truck. I was just trying to keep
Cris from getting too worried about it. On the other hand I would still push the ford dealer to find out what the problem was,and even have them go through it with a fine tooth comb.
