Hi-
I was looking to find some information on a Westinghouse 2 Stage air compressor pump. It is a model 3YC. A parts diagram or a service manual would be helpfull.
I bought the compressor about 12 years ago, and just decided to get it running last night. I am not getting any more than 20 psi on the tank gauge. Not sure what is wrong, maybe the valves are sticking.

Anyone have any leads?

Thank You,
Mike

As Charles said, any compressor shop that gets aftermarket parts from ICC should be able to get you parts for this machine. BTW, I am not sure, but this pump may use an unloader that prevents the compressor from pumping air if the oil is low. 20psi sounds about right for it to unload the heads at. If there is a brass airline coming from the tank, through to the back of the pump, then up to the heads, it's a good bet it has this system. There is no outside sign that this compressor has an oil pump, but it does. It's a small plunger type pump that runs off an eccentric at the middle of the crankshaft. Check your oil level.

The oil was a bit higher than the fill-to line, so I drained some oil. Still only gets barely 20psi.

Hopefully Rodger, who is a compressor guru, will see this and point you in the right direction. I think he also will be able to give you a source of parts.

Quoting from a previous post of Rodger's

"You should be able to order Wayne, Westinghouse and LeRoi parts through any decent compressor shop (these pumps all began as Westinghouse units). Independent Components Corp in New York makes all kinds of stuff for these compressors."

I had a 3YC compressor in my shop for a long time. The valves are under the cast iron caps on top of the heads. They are very easy to remove. The main components are a very delicate spring and a circle plate of very thin metal. The metal tends to crack and thus no pressure. It is obsolete and I could not find replacement valves. Have a nice day

Hello there - I just stumbled across this forum...
We have a 3YC on an old army landing craft and use air pressure to lift and lower the loading ramp. Its time to replace the compressor - we've done about all we can to hold it tegether. What is a suitable new replacement for the 3YC? We need to achieve 250psi for that application and currently run the compressor off a power take off of one of our Detroit 8V71's.

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Richard
