Does anyone have any good or bad experience with KIA vehicles? I've been a GM man all my life but I'm ready to throw in the towel on GM. I've also got two good buddies ready to throw with me. Help.

Kia's are crap, they do not honor their warranties, they do not or can not fix all of the problems that they have, and they are a hazard to life and limb. Please visit my web site and review the information there, and read comments that other kia owners have left in my forum. Remember this, anytime someone defends a kia product as good - they are some way connected with kia motors, and they want your money. Don't be a sucker! I reviewed and researched every car, truck and van made, and what I found was TWO VEHICLES that were without problems 99 to 100% of the time. If you search the web a little you will find that these are the top two makes to buy...the honda and toyota. I opted for the honda element because of the price. This is by far the best vehicle I have ever owned since I started driving when I was 16, and I am now 54 years old. I have also drived GM products, too many to count through the years, but their quality has really gone downhill. If you want realibity and quality get a honda or toyota.

I bought a Kia Sofia new in '98. Kept it one year and traded for a Jeep because of a few small problems, and because I just wasn't happy with the car. I love my Cherokee but if I could make the choice again I would buy something from Nissa, Toyota or Honda. The most dependable car I've ever owned was a Nissan Sentra. I just don't think the so-called "big three" measure up to the three Japanese brands. Just my opinion.

BUY AMERICA or BYE AMERICA!!!!! !!!!!If you buy from the big three the profits stay here in this country. If you buy your honda toyota kia whatever no matter where its made the profits go back to ASIA.You people should be ashamed,where will your children work? When you have sold them out by supporting foreign countries.All makes will have problems ,especially if the owners won't maintain them.Just remember ALL of you and your jobs CAN be replaced by cheaper foreign labor.

My boss's wife has one. She spends a lot of time driving it to the dealer to get it fixed. Power window on passengers side gave up last summer. We took it apart and repaired it with baling wire. (No kidding). Works so far.

I've got a buddy that powers his saw mill with a kia...His '62 Falcon finally gave up the ghost...It powered the mill for 33 years before it tossed a rod.. I talked to a tow truck driver when he hauled my stepsons new Neon for the 6th time, What makes do you haul the most ?.. His answer was , Neons , Kias , Hundai...You make the call.. I'll stick to my Silverado after dumping a Ram, last year..

I am disgusted with the "Big 3" automakers. I have a 94 Dodge Spirit with barely 110000 miles and it is a mechanical piece of crap. At 80000 miles the head cracked, and 2 1/2 years & 30000 miles later the head gasket blew out. Got it fixed and another thing would go wrong then another thing, it just costed me $1200 in repaird for a car that is worth $1500. Now I am looking for a good used Toyota, Honda, Nisan, or Subaru I am done with the so called American made cars, I never cared for Fords, I dont like the GM cars, unless you buy the high end cars I dont fit in them very good (I am 6'4") and after my Dodge experiance I dont want them ether. I have a 1986 Toyota tercall with over 250000 miles and I dont think I have put $1000 in repairs in the 18 years I have had it. I think the "big 3" brand cars are warn out at 100000 miles and the Toyotas, Nisans, Subarus & Hondas are good for 2 or 3 hundred thousand miles.

Does anyone know of a good site like this one that is for cars & pickups?

The thing to remember about both Kia and Hyundia is that they have improved a lot over the past 6 years. A 2002 doesn't compare with a 2006 in any manner other then the name plate. When the Jap cars first came over in the the early 70s they were pretty much crap, but then the cheap American cars they competed against were even worse (Pinto, Chevette, Pacer... makes me cringe to type those names), by the early 80s they ate Detroit's lunch. The Korean car makers didn't have a decade to get it right.

As for Consumer Reports, I'd use it for toilet paper but the pages are to slick.

Yep, I have a 2003 KIA Spectra. I use it to commute to work. I have had it for just over 2 years and have not had problems with it. I now have 35,000 miles on it. It is not a Honda or Toyota, but it suits me just fine. I bought it at the end of the year closeout for $10,000. I figure that if I had bought a Honda for $25,000 at the same time, it would have depreciated to less than $15,000 by now - does that mean that my KIA has no resale value? If so, doesn't matter cuz I am money ahead by now.
I am surprised that the quality of workmanship is not as bad as everyone thinks. It handles nicely and has plenty of zip for a 4 cylinder. I think that everyone has horror stories about any of the car manufacturers.

Neighbor had one and was nothing but problems and that warranty isn't worth much as the dealer didn't want to fix it.

Consumer Reports only seems to like Honda,Toyota,Subaru. I am tending to agree with them as my sisters and dad are running Hondas and Toyotas and getting far better service from them then we ever had with the GM's

I think they're a little better than they used to be, but still JUNK. Same with Isuzu. I knew someone that had one of the first Hyndai's they imported into the U.S., the bumpers and wheels fell off at regular intervals. The fit and finish quality in the new ones is just horrible. I always laugh at those commercials that compare the price of the Kia vs. a Honda or Toyota. At resale time, the Kia will be worth half the price. If you're looking for fuel economy and reliability, look for a Toyota Tercel, nearly 50 MPG and will last 300K with little maintenance.

i have a 2002 kia sportage(4+4) it now has 57000 miles and while i haven't had any problems with it or dealership.... i owned subaru and susuki and think both were better with better gas mileage... you might want to look at toyota corella if a car and a suzuki (4+4).

If you have to buy a foreign car buy a jap or european car. The old addage of you get what you pay for is true with all cars, no matter where they are made. A friends wife has a Hyundai (she got rid of it because it was not reliable enough, in the dealer a lot) The 100K warranty is not bumper to bumper I guess.

Daughter has one , it`s junk, spends more time in the shop than on the road . She`s lookin for a buyer !! Sure was nice of my wife`s brother to sell it to her !!

wait 'till the chinese junk hits our shores! it'll make the korean coffins look like buick roadmasters! buy a chrysler w/ a 5 star crash rating, unless it's for someone you have alot of insurance on..... new calibers look like a winner, on paper anyhow. my wife drives a diesel vw jetta...good car...not cheap.

I work for a Hyundai dealer which is to KIA as Pontiac is to Chevrolet (same company). The Hyundais I work on are junk. I have not seen so much poor workmanship on vehicles since when I worked for Ford in the 80's. The KIA's have poor wiring and like in one of the other posts have poor suspensions. The only thing that is covered in the 10yr.100k warranty is the powertrain, not the complete car like the salesman will lead you to believe. BTW, I work in a dual line dealer (Hyundai,Mazda, and Lincoln/Mercury) and I drive all GM products. Just my preference.

Wife"s co-worker has a Kia sedan. Has been nothing from problems from day one. Wheels have been replaced twice, suspension/allignment has been series of problems. Has gone thru tires at an alarming rate. None of this is on their wonderful 100,000mi warranty. Dealer has taken her around the block a number of times, and even going to another dealer brought little satisfaction. Was driving so badly that cops pulled her over, thinking she was drunk! I have begged a friend (Chrysler Dealer) to take her under his wing and put her in somthing dependable. If her experience is typical, RUN, don"t walk away from KIA.

Exwife bought one. Nothing but problems. Traded it in for a Chevy Cavalier. It was less than 1 year old and it was hardley worth anything on trade. She took a bath on it. One more time I got to say, Told ya so, cause she asked my advice before she bought it. Buy American.

GM has the highest domestic content rate of any automaker. 85% built in the US. Most of the rest built in Canada or Mexico.
