Well been playing with the little genny set and have it up and running now. Has 4 outlets that have around 130 volts ac on them. The little thing purrs like a kitten. Now I just need to figure out what in the world to do with it.

Bet you paid less than what I had to for a little 2KW Honda that my Wife wanted for her travel trailer.
(Can you believe over a grand!....ouch!)

I'm guessing you bought the Honda EU - I have the 3kw version for camping. They are so quiet it is worth the extra dough for that purpose.

I have heard people using "regular" generators at state parks - very loud and obnoxious. With mine, if I can keep it a couple hundred feet from the neighbors, they can barely here it.

I've always maintained the best way to prevent your power from going out is to by a generator.had mine for 14 years, has 12 hours on it.and a lot of that is from its once a year test run.best thing i did was convert it to run on natural gas, dont have to worry about the gasoline going bad.Bill M.

So how did you do that exactly? I think I would like to do that with mine. (convert to lp or propane that is).

Old, you may have the genny running too fast. Seems like you should have closer to 120 than 130. 'Course, you may not have had it loaded, which should drop the voltage some. There's a pretty inexpensive gadget called a Kill-A-Watt meter which will give you a reading of voltage, frequency and other stuff. Ususally can find them on E-Bay. Worth having to check your genny.

The speed does not change the voltage, that is a voltage control which may be adjustable. The speed only controls the frequency, you want 60. If you can't find a frequency meter just set it at the rated RPM, or plug in an electric clock, let it run a while and compare it to one pluged into the power company.

Pray for a power outage. Since I have Purchased a generator several years ago the power has only been off long enough to use it twice. I still get her out a couple of times a year for a little exercise. (Change oil & Filter and change the gas).
