1800rpm copper brushless. There is KW and KVA. That motor may need say 10KW power to operate at full load. However that motor is running at 14KVA due to reactive power. So in order to run that motor you need a 15KW generator. For all the difference in price when you are in this far already. Purchase a generator two sizes larger than what you need. When a generator is rated at 15KW they are stretching the rating. I wouldn't run a 15KW generator continous in cold weather at more than 13-14KW. In hot weather about 11-13KW is lots. Of course here is my rant about those "dingalings" that think they can shut off the main breaker and backfeed through the clothes dryer or range receptacle. Worse yet they plug into a welder receptacle that just has two lines and a ground. Then they think its ok to run neutral current through the ground. If you don�t use a transfer switch like this you need to be beaten then tied to a back fed distribution line. Link

Personally i bought a Winpower pto gen set. I didn't buy one of the chinease made generators you see all over cheaper, because i wanted something i could get parts for on down the road. Winpower has been around a long time. John

You might look at the northstar 27kw units in the 2000$ range. might not get the full 27kw from yuor 44 hp.. but should get mid 20's and not be taxing the genny.

I'd just make sure what you get doesn't run the gen. at 3600 rpm. If you go from 540 up to 3600 the gear case is real noisy !

I've got two older units, both Generac 17 KW and never had a problem with either. I've seen several bad units, and what usually does them in is overspeeding. When they get run too fast, centrifugal forces blows the armature apart. Best deals on new ones that I've ever seen are from Hardydiesel.com (in California). I've bought a lot of solar equipment from them, but they have new PTO generators advertised at great prices - e.g. a 7 kW unit for $461, a 12 KW unit for $656, a 15 KW unit for $1150, and a 20 KW unit for $1657.

I pulled up the catalog on their site and the 7 KW PTO driven generator was $1,225?

I didn't think Hardydiesel had any PTO generators on their website. I've got their printed catalog.
Their 7.2 KW PTO generator (6.5 KW continuous), 3600 RPM, 540 PTO, is catalog # 0010606 and Model 3P2MR11802 with a price listed at $461, on page 8 of their catalog. That's their smallest PTO unit. The largest is 88 KW gen RPM at 1800, PTO input of 1000 RPM, and priced at $3,172. Their phone number is 800-341-7027, and my catalog is dated Nov, 2005.

They have them listed in the Tractor catalog on thier site - Page 6.

$461 sounds like a great deal for a 7KW generator. I have a 3KW gasoline generator right now but I would like something a little larger. Just need to figure out how to justify it now.
