Sled lift

Anyone built one? Working on the snowmobile requires kneepads and is back breaking leaning over. Need it to lift 600lbs about three feet.
I'm thinking of building a scissors type that would slide under the floorboards, and using all-thread with a drill motor to turn and lift it... or a ram running off the tractors power beyond.
Just looking for ideas.

I"ve got one of the western mfg handy lifts, capacity is around 1000lbs, it lifts my 330lb dualsport bike with as little as 20psi. The handy lifts are a little spendy, but a guy who owns one of the $300 harbor freight ones says it works fine. I know they use a foot pedal and hyd jack vs the air cylinder on my handy lift. I had to do some work on my fourwheeler, arctic cat 400 4x4, about 650lbs. I don"t have the side extensions but improvised with some chain link top rail thru the prepunched holes in the base, a couple douglas fir planks and some baling wire. It worked just fine, not tippy at all. It"s real nice to have what you"re working on at waist height, stooped over or wollering around in the floor is too much like my day job. The lifts are real handy for loading and unloading heavy loads out of your truck too, takes up less room than a ramp, gets you out of the weather and you don"t have to bother your buddies. I had wanted a lift for a long time, and had often thought of building one but if a feller can buy one for $300, that"s what I"d do. DK

Hey Ken Is this what you are looking for? I made six of them for some friends I also use it to lift my Honda Rubicon to change oil etc.
I changed one from the hand crank to a hydraulic cylinder and 12 volt hydraulic pump.
Sold the sled a few years back so only use it on the ATV just have to put in a removable cross bar where the track would be. You can buy them at most snowmobile dealers I just did not want to pay their price

Yep, thats it. Does it look like you could put a hydraulic ram or air ram? It looks like instead of the crank you could weld a nut on the all-thread and use an impact.

I have the HF ATV/garden tractor lift (not the same one you posted) its pretty good for the sixty some bucks. It would take to much altering, it would be much easier to start from scratch. There is a snowmobile dealership close to me that sells a huge volume of sleds and has thirteen sevice bays. They use a forklift with carpet around the forks to pick them up under the floorboards and move them around. They set them right on the hydrolic lifs.
What I need is something to wheel under the floor boards sort of like a forklift. Another option would be a forklift like attachment for the front of the backhoe or the frontend loader or 3point of the tractor, and set it on a table.
I just thought maybe someone here has been there/done that, and give some ideas. Here is a link to the ATV lift I have now in case someone is interested.

I wonder if it would work on garden and lawn tractors? It looks rather narrow. And I'd want to add some kind of device to increase the safety factor against collapsing. It should be on sale now and then.

I would think it would work for lawn and garden tractors. The one that the small engine guy uses at our farm and fleet is very similar. I would think you could just weld on some wings to make it wider. And to make it more stable I would just make an angled brace that can be swung up and fastened to the lift arm.
