After 3 days of emails and phone calls with no answer, I finally contacted the guy with the 300 pieces of 10' rebar. Some vintner bought it to cut up for grape stakes. They made 900 stakes out of it. Turns out it was outdoors for 5 years and had flakey rust. I guess the grapes won't mind.

Good news, bad news, kind of deal, huh? If I was in that situation, I'd try to think of it as dodging a bullet (sometimes known as sour grapes---more appropriate in this case, I suppose.)

Keep checking your original thread, I'm going to post there again this evening. Might be too late for you today. I'm over here on the left edge, so I'm still partying up a storm while you inlanders are already in beddy-bye. (Yeah, right!) There's a lot I don't know about the physical properties of steel in concrete (shear, tension, the effect of brittleness, joint design etc.) and I'd like to wring as much information out of this flurry as possible.
