I have recently inherited a Poulan 2150 chainsaw. Looks to be in good condition(even with my limited mechanical aptitude) is clean, air filter good..removed gas that I swear was varnish, but cant get it to start. Any suggestions would be appreciated.If the carb is a possable problem,again due to my limited aptitude, how do I go about accessing and cleaning it? Thanks in advance,

Here we go with a fun trip. If it has not set around for toooo long.. try this. Wash out the tank with a little clean gas. As long as there is not any GOO at the bottom you are OK. Put in some fresh gas "2cyl mix" in the tank and fill it to the top. Close the choke, remove the air filter and clean away any dirt with some air. Make sure you have spark. Flip on the switch to "RUN". Pull the plug wire and use another plug against the metal of the saw. Got spark? Now for the final step. Use a Little oil squirt can with some 2cyl saw mix in it. Open the choke and give one squirt into the carb. Hold the throttle open and give a couple of pulls. The saw should run a little. Do it again about four or five times. If the saw happy bird is with you all of a sudden she should keep runnig. If after about five times it keeps croaking..... Next step is a new minny fiter and maybe a carb kit. Have gotten saws that were put away for better than five years to run. The thing that kills most of these little carbs is gasohall. The rubber just crumbles. Let us know Jeffcat.

Thanks for the advice,,I did as you suggested, save I replaced the spark plug with a new one, drained the old gas, cleaned out the tank with fresh gas,,then filled with mixed..a few pulls..and whamo..
