Anyone know of an outdoor furnace manufacture that has a wood chip feed option? My brothers boiler house that had his wood chips and low pressure boiler in it burned down Sunday morning. Now we are looking for a replacement as he can get the chips free from the place he works. Thanks for any help. Rick UP of Michigan

A stoker boiler built to burn wood pellets or coal. Several brands to choose from. Harmond etc.

I'd love to find something like this myself. I did some work for an outfit the other day that builds roofing trusses. They empty nearly 10 hoppers of scrap ever week and have so far not been able to find anyone to take them for anything. As a result their having to pay to have them hauled off as trash. I was told if I ever get a way to utilize them I can have all I want, and then some, it it'll save them the cost of throwing them away. I've done alot of looking myself and haven't seen anything so I've been trying to figure out how to build myself both the furnace and a feed system for it. Maybe one of these days I'll get it designed and built, til then I'll have to rely on my insert and good old fashioned splitting.

central boiler makes a bolier that you can burn pallets in, I would think you could just use an outside furnace and load it up with the scrap wood, just a thought

NC Wayne-

If you have access to scrap wood, you might look into making them into wood pellets for pellet stoves. I know a couple in Ohio that bought an extruder and did just that. I'm in Wisconsin and pellets get scarce in the fall when folks are loading up for the winter.

Just a thought.
