New DeWalt cordless...

Bought a new DeWalt 9.6v drill/driver last week on sale at Lowe's, because I really like the old 9.6v DeWalt that I've had for years. Put a drill bit in the new one yesterday and the bit wobbled; really wallowed out the hole. Couldn't tell if it was the arbor or the chuck that wasn't true. Returned it to Lowe's; they asked if I wanted to exchange for another one - told them: "Nope!"

I make my living as a carpenter. Over the years I"ve tried most of the brands/colors of power tools. I bought a Dewalt 3/8 corded drill and a Dewalt cordless drill and they wore out so quickly I"ll never buy another. For cordless I have had the best luck with Makita. Most of the rest of my tools are Milwaukee. Jerry

Sure it wasn't the bit that was bent or you mounted it wrong in the chuck? You didn't see the bit wobbling before you drilled the hole?

Took the bit from my old DeWalt, that runs true, put it in the new DeWalt and noticed the wobble right away. Tried a new bit just to be sure - then put everything back in the case and returned it. Friend of mine got a new PC that was the same way. Service Center changed the chuck, but it still wobbled.

In my opnion Dewalt is over rated and over priced. I just picked up a Craftsman 19.2V 410lbs torque drill, and Im very impressed with the power this thing has.

picked it up on Ebay for 50.00, 2 nice batteries, charger, Brandnew bit set, and new soft bag.
