I need help. The throttle linkage on my 730 Case diesel with German Bosh pump is stuck inside the pump. It happened a few years ago and I had the pump rebuilt to a tune of $1100.00. That time it was stuck in the closed position. This time it stuck in the advanced position. It stuck while sitting in the shed over a period of several months. It hasn't run over 10 hours since it was rebuilt but that was about 10 years ago. Some case collector told me then, it was easy to take a plate off or a plug out somewhere and free the linkage or whatever is stuck, but I forgot what he said. Can someone please help? Thanks

Your barrels and plungers have probably seized up from setting so long. The pump will probably have to be disassembled and the barrels and plungers freed up by using mutton tallow on them. The tolerance of the parts are what is called fit. That means there is almost no clearence between the barrels and plungers and they will easily stick if not used occasionally. You might possibly get them to free up by rocking the rack back and forth.Just don't force anything too hard.Be sure to usea a good fuel conditioner in the future if the engine is going to set for a long time again. The conditioner will help to eliminate future lock ups.

Do you know how to get to the "rack" on this German Bosch Inline Pump?

Read your other post at Deere. You didn't say it would start and run here.If that is the case is is probably just a sticky governor and not the much more expensive barrel and plunger problem.IF you can shut it off in the usual manner then the rack is o.k..
AS Bob suggested, you might use some penetrating oil on the governor.Remove the small end cap and shoot some penetrant up inside it.That might do it if you are lucky. Good luck, bob

Yes, it will start and run, but runs at full throttle. The linkage is working as well as the shaft in the pump. I had to cut the air off (with my hand over the air intake) to kill it. I think the rack is stuck and was wondering if there was some way to free it without taking the pump off. I ran the tractor last summer so I don't think it is stuck very tight. Thanks, Buddy

Is the shaft just rusted when it passes into the pump case? How you tried penetrating oil and time to loosen it?
