I presently have a Miller Deltaweld 451 for MIG welding, and an old(but good) Miller Dialarc 250 for TIG welding. I am happy with both of them, but will be moving them to a location that does not have 3-phase power available. And, I'm told that the waveform provided by a single phase to 3-phase converter is not adequate to run these welders. So, I'm thinking of selling both and replacing them with an engine driven Miller Trailblazer 280NT. Has anyone welded with the Trailblazer and either of my present welders? I'm not an aeorspace quality welder, but I need to make good quality welds, and I don't want to get a machine that is a step backward from what I have. The Miller dealer either can't or won't answer this question, so I'm hoping someone here can. Thanks...Al English

I have a Miller Syncrowave 450 TIG setup c/w rad, it doesn't need 3 phase and has no provision for it. I bought it used, moved the voltage jumpers inside to 230V and it works great. Needed a 100 amp breaker though.

Hi Al, I havn't used a Deltaweld but doesn't the Dialarc run either single or 3ph? Has jumpers in the back to change it if I remember correct and the jumper diagram is on the back pannel. Then again maybe I have CRS :) My son bought a Trailblazer for the company and he was very pleased but I never got burn one with it.

What are you asking for the Dialarc? and where you loacated?

The utility Companys now have a single tranformer that takes single phase input with a 2ph output. The 2nd phase is magnetically induced so you might inquire if they can hook two transformers to your feed, one being a standard 2pole 2ph and one with the "new" 3rd leg. Just a thought as I never inquired about it.
