Wanted to tap into the well of knowledge on this site to see if anyone knew of better ways to clean out open water wells. Going down inside with a bucket and a rope is the way I did it before but as I am now older, hopefully wiser, and know I'm mortal, am trying to think of some mechanical way or tool to do it from up top. Thanks, Matt.

Rent or borrow a trash pump. We have one with an 11hp on it and it will draft along way. That will get alot of your muck, frogs and anything else in there out

Don't even think about going down in one unless you have help up on top. And a safty rope. I see old picture of a thing called a clam shell. Run from a derrick or winch.
