Got a 1/4 sheet palm sander Skil Model 7230 made in China, free with the 3X18 belt sander I bought. It turned out to be worth the price that I paid! The switch went out yesterday; parts center says the only part available for that model is the power cord. No room to install another type switch, so guess the whole thing goes in the trash.

In the trash it goes. Don't mess around with your safety for a few bucks. The chink stuff is junk but the way tools go now sometimes you don't have a chose.

Switches are the downfall of all the chinese cheapies. I've got dozens of hours on my HF stuff after fixing/ignoring the switches. It sucks to have to do it, but its better than if the armatures melted instead.

bypass the switch, and wire it direct. if you want to have a switch and not bother with plugging and unplugging, then install an inline swtich in the power cord close to the tool.

then when the next thing breaks on it, grab it by the cord and let it fly..... maybe will reach china.

I have an old USA made 3X18 Skil belt sander that the switch went bad on. I replaced it with a small rocker switch. The original switch went in a ball of flames. Must be way under rated for the startup inrush current.

you could just wire it so it is on when plugged in and off when unplugged.

I only wish all the china made products were made to that quality standard, maybe then we would have some of our money and jobs left here in this country.
