This is a bit of a sticky problem with using that heater in a building. The regulator that comes with your torpedo heater is designed to operate with propane vapor feeding into it at full tank pressure which is going to be 50-150+ psi depending on tank/fuel temperature. For reasons of safety,as to not quickly fill a building with propane gas from a serious high pressure leak,The regulator at the tank normally reduces full tank pressure to 11 inches of water column(aprox 1/2 psi) in the line leading to the building. In situations where it is a long run from the tank to the building,or an undersize line for the gas demand,a 2 stage regulator system may be used. This 2 stage system has the regulator at the tank reducing full tank pressure to aprox 10 psi in the line to the building. 10 psi will flow more fuel through a given size/length line than the 1/2 psi would if the pressure reduction was done in a single step at the tank. The 10 psi line pressure is then reduced by a second regulator mounted OUTSIDE the building, to a normal 11 inches of WC or 1/2 psi,so no plumbing with more than 1/2 psi gas pressure is inside the building. An accident that breaks the high pressure fitting off a 100 pound propane bottle inside the building could be a disaster,and much more so if the line was connected to an external tank at full line pressure with much much more than 100 pounds of propane avalible to leak inside the building. Several portable propane heaters I have including the torpedo type have regulators and gas jets sized to operate at 5-15 psi,so LEGAL gas plumbing that meets code for inside use will not supply enough fuel at 1/2 psi to operate them.
