Although no longer carried at the Sears retail stores, the catalog has them.

7/16, 1/2, 9/16, 5/8, 11/16 and 3/4 sizes of 8 pnt. - 1/2 inch drive sockets are sold for $4.49 each on page 55 of the current (Gold ratchet on cover) catalog.

You can also obtain 3/8 inch drive, 8 pnt sockets in 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 7/16 and 1/2 inch sizes, for $2.99 each on page 54 of the current catalog.

Besides turning the old-style square-headed fasteners, I have used them for driving taps and extractors when "out in the field" (under, over, partially inside a truck or piece of machinery).

They're great!

Sadly, the 1/4 inch drive sizes are no longer sold by Sears.

Check on eBay. About a year ago I bought a set of 3/8 drive 8 point Craftsman sockets there. I still see them for sale once in a while but can't recall specifically seeing 1/2 drive sockets.
