How do you guys dispose of your used antifreeze? There don't seam to be any recycling sights around hear. I'm tempted to dump it in the drain at our local carwash. Dues most carwashes have sanitary sewer hook ups?? What about brake fluid

Put it in tractor tires. It doesn't rust rims if you get a little on them. I have had it in the rears on a Chalmers C for maybe 15 years now.

I'm in the enviro. field, so I work with these issues all the time. The new product vendor may not take it back, and I don't know what your state laws say, but in Iowa, it's not very clear as to whether they have to. Try anybody who has worked on your vehicles or sold you one. They already get rid of this stuff through some waste vendor, and probably are on a contract rate. They might take it for nothing just to keep a customer happy. Don't dump it down the drain, as it doesn't degrade very well, and the sewage treatment plants can't handle it. If you get caught, it'll cost you dearly.

Hi Rod, Please don't do that! My grandkids have to live in this enviroment in the future! and if you get caught it's time in the crow bar hotel!!!

Take it back to where you bought it. EPA says who ever sells it has to dispose of it!!!!! If they refuse to take it, set it on the floor and walk out.

If you think that is tuff to get rid of, when EPA changed the law to where we had to reclaim refrigerant, some(most) refrigerant gets pretty nasty when mixed with oil from motor burn outs, very very acidic, and some refrigeration suppilers were refusing to take the waste when the plan was first implimented. We had to mix the bad stuff with the not so bad stuff to sneak it back to them. It all got burned to dispose of it but the mfg's were the ones that had to burn it.

I would like to see a law that any business that sells anything that can not be disposed of at home be required to post where it can be taken to be recycled or disposed of.
Any help in making this happen would be welcomed.
Thanks,
Dusty

Hi Dusty, I havn't checked lately, but when the EPA put the big move on thats was the way it was worded. From one of the other posters said tho it may have changed since. I still don't think they could do anything to you just sitting it down and walking away. I've done that at supply houses before and they never said a word. They do that with tires and battery's here but nothing else and they charge you $5eh.
