Does anybody know of a site that has a set of plans showing how to build a simple manual tubing bender? Would like to be able to bend pipe and flat stock. 1/4 inch is about the heaviest flat I ever use. Thanks

The cheapest bender is the one from HF on sale for $49-69. The die for tubing can be purchased from American or Metalebendingtool.

THanks Charley,Uncle,Slowpoke for the good info. I will check those sites. I found a bender at tractor supply for about $90 but it was cheap looking import so figured would rather try and build my own. I used to get a magazine from Hobart called world of welding that I enjoyed. Thanks again I appreciate your help.

I don't know of any plans, but I have a Harbor Freight bench mount flat stock and rod bender that works very well. I roll 1/4x 1 into 4" rings, although it takes some effort to get the size right. I think you can still get one on sale for $50. It comes with several size rollers but you can make others with a lathe. They also have a floor mount for more $. As far as bending small tubing, you could make some rollers for that, too. Otherwise pipe and tubing benders are available for about the same price as the flat stock bender.
