I have a hydraulic wood splitter I made few years back that runs off tractor hydraulics. I recently added a jib crane and set of log hooks to help the old back out. I just added the second single spool valve to the outlet side of my existing valve and then back to tractor. Even when I'm not using first valve I don't have much pressure to second valve. I had an old vickers open center three spool off of forklift but it has pressure in both ports of each valve when you move the spool either way so I went back to trying to use two single spool valves with one set of feed/return lines to my tractor to operate two cyclinders. How can I get more pressure to second valve? Sorry for the long message but I've been working on this project long enough and need some advice. Thank you in advance.

Two things- first I'm old school in hydraulics, I believe the term "power beyond" applies to closed center systems as any open center system must send oil back to the tank continually or "beyond" the valve. If I am not right here I am sure somebody will correct me on that term. Second, I must assume your system is open center and your splitter worked fine before you added the valve and still does. I just did the exact same thing with my splitter except I added log lifters instead of a jib. I used two Cross open center valves sold at TSC and every Farm Fleet place I know of. Make sure the valves are for use with cylinders, years ago there were valves for motor use only at the farm Fleet places and they will not hold position with cylinders. The valves have four ports. IN, OUT and A and B. Flow from the pump goes to the IN port and returns to the tank via the OUT port. The A and B ports are for your load, cylinder or motor. You probably knew this but a person never knows on here when giving advise. To stack another valve a person goes from the OUT port on valve 1 to the IN port on valve 2 and the OUT port on valve 2 returns to the tank. If you have two open center valves and yours are plumbed this way then you have relief valve problems on the valve you are using for the jib, plain and simple.

Power beyond applies to open center valves. This is the port to use as an input to the second valve, there is also a return port that must return to the oil tank by a seperate hose. If you use the out port without a power beyond port the first valve relief is not able to work when you are useing the second valve, and the return passages of the first valve are put under line pressure.

Does your first valve have power beyond? Does your second valve have a seperate relief valve in the housing?

It sounds like the pressure relief in the second valve is set at too low of a pressure.
