I have a full size truck/car changer however
I need on that will work with small wheels that do not have a large center hole, like lawnmover
wheelborow & some atvs. Has anyone tried the HF mini 8-12" tire changer, If not then what do you use to get those small tires changed.

Hi The best way to fix small tire flats is to go to the farm store and get a inner tube and put that in.This way you only have to take one side of the tire off and just put the tube in and put the tire back on air it up and the way you go.And in the morning when you need to use that machine the tire is not flat again.Just be carefull not to punture the tube when you put the tire back on.

I don't have much problem taking them off as the bead usually pulls away from the rim when it goes flat. The worst problem is getting both beads to seat so the tire can be aired up. They tend to pull in towards each other to about half the distance between the rim sides. I use a ratchet tiedown around the diameter, but that only works about 25% of the time. The rest of the time a good application of cuss words works best. And the next morning it's flat again. I guess I need to make one of those blaster tanks. Will a 20lb barbeque tank work?

Use a ratchet strap and put it around the tire on the center of tread. Ratchet down, squishing the tire. This causes the tire beads to push up against the rim lips quite nicely. Hit it with air, and the beads seat. Pop the ratchet strap and continue to air up.

You can use a rope and stout stick instead of a ratchet strap, but the ratchet strap is a whole lot easier and quicker.

I use a ratchet strap and also a 3/4" pneumatic bead expander. Neither one works very well. The bead expander is for bias ply tires, but I don't see why it won't work on radials. Maybe they're too stiff.

Instead of spending 300.00 on that blaster, go to a tire supply place, get a bucket of tire sealer. They use it to get big tubeless floater tires to seal. We mount a lot of lawn mower tires and use to cuss, tant, rave, throw things, get mad, etc. Spent $20.00 and got this 25# bucket of stuff. you take your tire, lay it on its side, pack this stuff around the rim, them air it up. If you do it slowly, it will push this stuff out of the rim and can be put back in bucket to resue. It is by far the best $20.00 I have ever spent.

How thick is that stuff? Is it similar to Slime? What's the name of your sealer?
All the sealers in my tire supply catalog are sold by the gallon, with an optional pump. So they must be kind of thin.

One neighbor has one of those HF changers and says it works ok for them. I've got an adjustable ATV tire bead breaker I use and some small tire spoons I bought from Gemplers. gemplers.com

Don't buy from Harbor Freight if you are in a hurry. They soak ya on the shipping and it takes forever for them to even ship the item. The bigger the item, the worse it gets. It took them over a month to ship a utility trailer. It took 16 days to receive a set of safety wire pliers. The fun does not stop there. They sell your email address to every website known, then sell your mailing address to even more. I became concerned abaout the trees getting cut down simply to get put in my trash can. My email account was useless and had to be cancelled. I did forward every message back to 'em, though. Everything from penile enhancement to porn sites to grey sites. It got bad. Not worth it. I would try Northerntool or something, hell, anything....

Just got one in the mail. Looks to be solid enough, but haven't tried it yet. I'm making a mount so that I can slip it onto a forklift tine, that should hold it down solid enough.

I have one and would recommend it. The base has to be mounted to something solid.

Like stickler says, "tire irons." I also use a lot of soat and a rubber lubricant. Some tire changes around here might have made some good action shots for funiest home movies. Hate it when one of them little devels pins me on the shop apron long enough for the count though. Bummer!

Three utility ATV"s and three riding lawn tractors around the farms. I supose one might come in handy a couple times a year.

small ones easier to change????? they can be down right buggers. ill take a slide hammer /duckbill and a sem i tire every day. some of those tiny tires esp the low profile ones can be a real bugger to change. i know this isnt waht you want to probably hear and not the answer to your question but the bets thing you can do is to get a vice and a bolt for the small tires and a hammer and screwdriver and learn how to do it without tools. i know that isnt ideal but i have done it many times too many times that way without spoons or tools

I've got 5 ATC's, 3 riding mowers, rototillers, sprayer, garden carts, ATV trailers, hand trucks and all sorts of stuff using small tires. Never had any trouble fixing/changing any of them just using 4 tire irons. I do have a bead breaker, but never bothered building a small tire changer. I've never seen the one you're thinking about, not having HF up here, but if it was cheap, it'd be worth a try I guess.
