Small Parts Washer

Just put a new sink in the kitchen and was thinking about using the old one for a parts washer for the small stuff. One side for getting the real dirty stuff off and the other side for a rinse tank. We had a small homemade parts washer when I worked for the Oliver dealer using an old engine oil pump to circulate the fluid. Worked good. Thinking of doing the same here. Any suggestions>

I just read an interesting post, on another board, that described an interesting setup for an ultra-sonic like device.

You take one of those vibrating foot bath tubs, put a smaller container, with the parts and cleaning fluid, taped down, and let the vibrating action of the foot bath work on the stubborn grime in tight places.

I restore a lot of old tools and rebuild ratchets.

I'm looking for a used foot bath in a GoodWill store. New ones cost around forty bucks!

Hi John;I think you would be better off with a 20 gal parts washer from Northern tool.Comes w/pump,drain,and most importantly a lid.The lids also have a pin which melts at a certain temp slamming door shut in case of fire.$75.00-not bad!I've seen these mounted on bench-tops so only thing on the surface is the lid.Oh...kerosene works better than that crap sold as parts washer solovent.~brad

that would work but new parts washing solvent has alot to be desired. nothing liek the good old stuff but"toxic" new stuff doesnt work well

My neighbor does that with a double sink - for a pump he uses a dishwasher pump and motor. Has been on the same pump & motor for 10 years or so. He recirculates it through a furnace fuel oil filter - General Model #1A-25A - cheap refills for a few bucks.
