Got your attention.

Different sort of dirt. I was working with expanded foam (Great Stuff) and got some on my hands.

How do I get this stuff off!!?? I tried isopropyl alcohol and soap and water with a stiff bristle brush. Didn't budge the crud off my hands. Makes me look like I've got leprosy.

Have to go to a Christmas program tomorrow and I know there will be hand shaking. Don't wanna scare folks.

Your assistance if MUCH appreciated.

Thanks

Dog's Friend

I've found that the spray on brake cleaner dissolves this stuff like crazy.

Try a product by Avon called Skin So Soft. Must be a petroleum base because it cleans a lot of other stuff off hands. I buy those boxes of disposable gloves for the workshop. Worth their weight in gold if you work with the public UGH!! like I do. Good Luck.

Shoulda used those throwaway gloves that came with the can.I was too manly to wear them the first time I used Great Stuff ! Just figured I would use paint thinner or something when I was done.

Tried everything I had. Finally looked at the can and is said "no known solvent".

Had to sand it off my hands.

Big lesson learned !!

They haven't supplied those little throwaway gloves for some time now, several years at least. I wear rubber gloves, but putting a plastic grocery bag on your hand before using it will work as well.

I usually find the most noxious stuff in my garage and scrub at it, then peel it off for a few days. Has anyone ever used POR-15? That stuff, once dried, only comes off with time, up to 2 weeks.

Ah, the bane of pond installations. To date, nothing has been found that's effective on Great Stuff. If you ever find something that really works, you've got a strong market in the pond installation business.

I just like to think my wifes hands look cute all lumpy and black.

Borrow some of your wife"s Nail polish remover. Rub it on the glue covered areas and work it in, and it"ll soften it up so you can scrub it off.

Depending on how much you have on your hands, you might have to do it a couple times to get it all off.

What I use is carb cleaner the stuff you get in a spray can. Seemed to work well for me, if you can take the smell of it. Wife complains every time I come in smelling of carb cleaner.

A few years ago, I took a week off & built a small building... I used quite a few tubes of Polyurethane adhesive, as well as a few cans of Great Stuff...They stuck very well to my hands!!! I tried everything under the sun, to get them clean... Acetone, MEK, gasoline, Clorox & more... All I did was make my hands sore & raw... Hate to tell you this, but it took almost a month for all that glue & foam to wear off my hands...

Use a little acetone. It will remove it but after washing up use some lotion because the acetone can dry out your hands. WARNING: Do not use it around an open flame or near a gas water heater or you can go POOF!!

Seems to me that I used either gasoline or acetone. It melts the stuff but it takes a lot of paper towels or clean rags to get it off while it is still liquid. May want to test it on something before your hands.

Sorry but that stuff is notorious for being impossible to remove. It will wear off in time, but absolutely nothing you can put on your skin will remove it. You can scrub with a stiff bristle nail brush or a scotchbrite pad, and grit type hand cleaner, and get some of it off, but not all..... ..
