I agree with deanop's reply. I have used Meyers plows for years and their Meyer's fluid (I like to call it windshield washer fluid)is just junk, especially in cold and frigid weather. With regular maintenance they still freeze up and for some reason seems to attract moisture into the system, rams and valves. If I were you, do yourself a favor and flush the ENTIRE system completely and refill with Dextron 3. Your problems will be gone, period. It is also easier on the pump and hydraulic system, and it still works good in cold weather. We have used this in 4 plows so far in the past 5 or 6 years with good results. Take it from me, these Minnesota temps can sometimes be brutal!

Put it in a warm shop. You MUST change the oil in the power angle cylinders too. Take the power angling cylinders off. I saw what the Meyers shop does. They flush the pump with some dry gas and flush the power angling cylinders with dry gas too. Flush your hoses. Clean off your cuplers. Fill the power angling cylinders with Meyers oil (piston rod down, hole up). Then reatach the hoses. This will save on bleeding.

I think you have a buch of water in there that froze it up. It will not suffice to simply clean out the filters.

Bring it into a heated shop. Pull the drain plug, the fill plug, and all the filters. LEAVE IT ALL OPEN AND WAIT OVERNIGHT. Let ALL the water drain out. Flush system and filters with kerosene. Refill with fresh fluid and bleed as necessary.

Should take care of the problem. Try to store it indoors and change the fluid at least annualy.

Stan, Check your quick couplings. My brother DKJ went through a lot of cash on his E-60 Meyer. Dan replaced the right angle cyl after he hit a high spot with it. No joy, he found a bad quick coupling. mj

on my old meyers it would be stubborn in really cold weather...have you got enough fluid in it any bled it, and all the couplings good and connected...i found meyers plow oil useless in our subzero weather, switched oil any never froze up again...does yours sound like its trying to work (makin noise) or nothin?

What type of oil did you use to replace the Meyers oil? My son just paid $9 a quart for Meyers oil.

I had the same problem a couple years back. Found that the control switch had a voltage drop acrossed it. Replaced switch and fixed the problem.
