I got that surface grinder in safe and sound

thanks to all that gave me info on shipping the 6-18 reid grinder. I transported it Sat. AM it took about 45 minutes to get it up to my buddys shop. I also bought a set of 6-12 mitotoyo micrometers for $200, full set of gage pins up to .750 for $100 and a surface plate 18X24 for $50 The guy also has a Turnmaster lathe, 13X40 for $5500 (good price) only 7 years old.

Is that surface grinder a Reid? Nice little grinder. I want to put together a nice shop, but will have to wait till I retire before I get the time & money at the same time. I work for GM at an engine plant. I have 27 years in and I am still one of the "younger" guys. Our workforce has gone from 1600 to 350. And we are producing more engines. And working fewer hours. And GM still wants to cut the numbers.... I hope I get to that retirement. Have a nice day!

Is that the romulus or Livonia engine plant? It is amazing to me that GM is in the shape it is. Multi-billion dollar company, largest company in the world and they cant make money. Sad aint it. Too many executives and high level people making big bucks.

My understanding is that a big part of GMs problems is medical costs for current and former employees.

Something needs to be done about the way we do medicine in this country. Too much of the money in the industry ends up going toward paper work which has the sole purpose of putting too much money in the pockets insurance middle men who have nothing to do with taking care of sick folks.

Also, too many ambulance chasing lawyers out to sue the pants off of any doctor or insurance company.
