I have a 69 F100 thats become a permanent fixture on my car hauler. Tried EBaying it for a $1.00 no luck.
Local scrap yards want $100 to junk it not a big deal but...I'm frugal. I don't have a cutting torch but I do have a oxygen and an acetylene tank for brazing. I've cut stuff with the abrasive disks in a circular saw before and that was slow. Sawzall would be slow as well and eat up a lot of expensive blades. The question is what is the best route to get this down to sizes the town dumpster can handle, fast. I'm guessing cutting torch. I figure if I go the cutting torch route I can do it in the dark as well saving daylight hours for more important stuff.
Anyone want a free 69 F100 power steering, automatic no engine in CT.

I'd recommend a gas-powered target saw. I've disposed of cars that way for years. Pity to scrap a 69 though.

Way out here in the center of the US where some people think it is empty the local junk dealer will pick up cars for free or if you deliver it they will pay at least $50.

Why are they charging you to junk it , around here you would get 40-60.00 no questions asked . why don't you cut it into 2'x2' pieces and sell it for scrap you can probley rent a torch at the rental yard .

Thats why I posted the orignail question. I'm cutting out the salvageable stuff the rest is going to the town metal dumpster (axle, transmission, fuel tank, seat and glass). Looks like I'll be using a cutting torch.

Don't give it away it's still worth something even to the crooked junkman , but if you cut it in 2 x 2 foot pieces that is considered prepared and it will bring top price .

I got a torch from Harbor Freight, seems like it was $59.99 for the big cutting handle a few years back. At $70 a ton for prepped long iron you may just be trading money but you will have a torch when you finish.

I've been offering it on that forum for 2 years.
Theres not many people in CT that are interested in this era trucks at least project vehicles/parts truck.
If I were in a different part of the country it would of been gone in a flash and possibly put back on the road.

There has got to be a better deal than that! Here, in Ohio, I have been doing a little bit of cleaning up, hauling derelict cars and small trucks. They take them whole, with just about anything you care to stuff in them. One was balancing a bushhog on top and another was stuffed with Yanmar rototillers.for $120 per ton. Funny thing is, the car body price beats the prices for short iron, heavy iron, or even clean cast iron. They are getting touchy about expecting titles with them lately. They will accept them with tires and gas tanks, anymore, too.

You might consider taking things off it and selling them piecemeal on ebay. I buy alot of parts for my kid's honda cars and my motorcycles there. Someone may not be willing to drive to Conneticut to pick up a truck but will pay to ship a tranny or trim piece. Some of those are getting scarce in the snow areas and folks are looking on Ebay for replacements. GWB

The auction ended this afternoon. Here is the acution # 8018863898 I think it can still be viewed. The bed is gone already but the tailgate is still there. The rims are not stock and fit early model jeeps. The tires have plenty of tread but show signs of dry rot/cracking.

If the power is applied to the steering by a cylinder, someone might want it, the pump and other parts to convert their tractor to power steering.

Wow! I cant believe a scrap yard would charge you to junk it. Maybe you should try another one. When you say scrap yard, do you mean auto wreckers? . I've always at least been given a few bucks for junk vehicles. I never heard of having to pay to get rid of one.

I thought it would be a lot easier to get rid of the truck locally as well. Most of the places I called don't except whole vehicles at all. So I figure if I'm going to have to remove the cab and wheels might as well cut it into managable chunks.
I could haul it 40 miles but then I'm cutting into my work time lost wages, -fuel cost and not one yard offered $ for the truck.

Best case is free drop off but I'm looking at a $40 fuel cost to get there using my tow vehicle.

Now I'm thinking utility trailer out of the rear. Just need to buy a cutting torch ;-( and get the tanks filled. Rather see it go towards parts on someone elses restoration project...but can't find an interested taker. Enough of my whining -- bummer when you realize your old junk really is old junk.

Find a chruser and sell it to china, at least then you will get a few $$ for it. Last I checked it was $70 a ton.

If you was closer I'd take it off your hands . Hate seeing that year of Ford going for scrap . Had a 71 new & made the same mistake . Love to go back to that age of truck . They were very dependable & didn't have all the pollusion crap on it . Ken
