Just drug in a piece of old equipment that is really rusty. Was wondering what is the best penetrating oil on the market?

Butch is right you can't beat a fire wrench. A little practice and you can blast off the side of the nut, save the bolt or stud and not ruin the threads. In my messey shop it's alot easier to find the torches then a little old mostly used up can of spray lube.

Many years of twisting off rusty bolts and a shelf full of spray cans has taught me what someone posted below. Red heat is best rust buster. Second best when heat is not an option is the dirty solvent out of my parts washer because it is less than free when you consider it has to be hauled away if it isnt splashed over rusty bolts. Lacking a parts washer your next best is the cheapest stuff you can find or plain ole kerosene with some atf or hydraulic oil added. I dont belive in magic, whether it's green women that ride brooms or bolt looseners in fancy colored spray cans with perfume added

You'll do less damage using a hot wrench (acetylene torch) than you will trying to take it apart cold, even if you have a tanker truck full of penetrating oil.

Kroil or Aerokroil works by far better than anything I have ever used. I have used tranny fluid on a wagon made of untreated wood, and it is holding up real good. Just put it on with a brush, neighbor that builds trailors told me about it. I also have some PB Blaster that I keep trying, but it"s nowhere as good or as fast as the Kroil.

Mix equal parts of ATF, K-1 kerosene and paint thinner. This makes a good solvent. I made a gallon to clean my gun barrels and had to much so I tried it on rusty bolts. Let it soak a while and it really helps.

I have been having good luck with PB Blaster lately ? Funny thing about old equipment those bolts might just come right out. They were built from different stuff that they don't use today.

Thanks guys. I wanted to save as many bolts as I could. Isn't it strange that when you do a resto, that there are certain lenght bolts that you just can't find. And when you do find them, they are zinc plated and won't hold paint.

Ok now I know you are going to laugh at this but it seems to work very well for me, a spray bottle filled with water and a few drops of soap, Keep it wet and just keep working the bolt back and forth.

My personal choice is aero kroil or sili kroil. You have to buy it on line but it has worked the best for me.

I've found that tranny fluid works real well and its half the cost of the other stuff.

A cutting torch. Next best is 50% brake fluid and diesel fuel.
